Phil Joel / Heather Joel
Zealand Worship - The EP

I turn it over in my mind
Thinking back
Have we done things right?
We're in the middle
We're in the middle of this
I've never seen such crazy times, the seasons change
But it still feels dry
In the middle
We're in the middle of this

Every test we go through
Our roots grow stronger
And deeper into You
And though the rain
May not fall
Our leaves turn greener
Than they ever were before
Cause You are good
You are

You said step out
And lift your eyes
Look to Me
It's gonna be alright
I'm in the middle
I'm in the middle of this

We will delight
Ourselves in You
And with each step we take
We will trust You
And at the end
Of every day
We will give thanks and praise
To You in everything

Jeremiah 17:7-8
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in HIm. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its root by the river, and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.”

Man…what an incredible, inspiring promise! These verses cast great vision for anyone who wants to grow stronger and more fruitful in any (and every) season they will face – the good, the bad and the ugly.

Trusting in the Lord is a choice.  It means rejecting the propaganda the world has created to discredit the goodness of our Heavenly Father and embracing the truth of who He is and the fact that He created us to be close to Him as we walk through this life.

When we choose to walk closely with the Lord - WHEN OUR HOPE IS IN HIM, WHEN WE LOOK TO HIM AND TRUST HIM WITH EVERY DETAIL OF OUR LIVES - our roots will run deep and strong – we’ll be well-watered as if planted by a river.

We don’t have to wither and die due to lack of material, emotional, or financial resources (those things “above the ground”…what we can see with our own human eyes) because the source of our strength, “our roots” (our foundation on the TRUTH of God, His ways, His designs, our relationship with Him) run deep and sustain us.

Even when the heat comes (trials & challenges), even in the year of drought (material, financial, whatever the case) we will be GREEN and be FRUITFUL!  We can continue to become GREENER and STRONGER and our lives can still YIELD FRUIT even in seasons of drought. THAT’S SO COOL!  What beautiful vision!
